Tool Steels: as the name implies, these highly alloyed bars, blocks, or other shapes are used in the manufacturing of machine tools and for machine tool repair. High-hardened steels are needed for such applications as cutting and grinding tools. AMS Specialty Steel sells these products to large distributors who stock a variety of grades and sizes and shapes, and then retails them in smaller quantities to machine shops or other tool steel consumers. The market for this product line is concentrated in the Midwest (close proximity to the automotive industry), and in the Northeastern United States.
